Going Supernatural

The late great Kenneth Hagin tells an all important story of when he was new in ministry. He had yet to be filled with the Holy Spirit, though he knew of it and wanted it deeply.

During a time of corporate worship in which Kenneth was at the pulpit, there was a woman dancing in the Spirit. People were being ministered to by her anointing. Kenneth said, “I want to dance in the Spirit just like that!” The Lord told Kenneth, “Well, go down there and join with her.”

Kenneth stepped to the edge of the elevated podium, jumped down and he danced! He testified, “When I stepped off the podium, I was in the flesh. But when I hit the ground, I was in the Spirit!”

Herein lies a powerful and critical principle of understanding in the Kingdom of God here on earth!

First: Kenneth, knew the Word of God as regards the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, and he believed those Scriptures to be true. He believed it, and had a faith for it. No one will be given the Holy Spirit who does not have faith for the Holy Spirit!

Second: Kenneth deeply desired the baptism of the Holy Spirit! No one will be given the Holy Spirit who does not want the Holy Spirit!

Third: Desiring the gift of the Holy Spirit, Kenneth asked the Lord for Holy Spirit. No one will be given the Holy Spirit who does not ask for the Holy Spirit!

Fourth, Kenneth made a conscious willful choice to first obey the Lord. He then stepped to the edge of the podium as an act of his choice and will. He then jumped off the podium as an act of choice and will. Only when he hit the ground did God give him the Holy Spirit! KEYNo one will be given the Holy Spirit who does not take the first willful act to gain the Holy Spirit! We must take the first step!

Fifth: When Kenneth hit the ground, he was filled with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit comes to those who have shown faith for Him, expressed a wanting for Him, having asked for Him, and then having obeyed His calling!

Here’s the simple bottom line. Once the Word is clear, faith is expressed, and having asked for Him, we must take the first willful action! Such is true of all things supernatural of the Holy Spirit! We must make the first move!

The Process of Being Filled with the Holy Spirit.

First: Confirm you see the need for the Holy Spirit in Scripture. Refer to these scriptures:

Baptized with the Holy Spirit: Matthew 3:11; Mark 1:8; Luke 3:16; John 1:33; Acts 1:5, 11:16

Filled with the Holy Spirit: Acts 2:4; 4:8, 31; 6:5; 9:17; Ephesians 5:18

Holy Spirit fell on them: Acts 8:16, 10:44, 11:15

The Holy Spirit given: Acts 2:38, 8:18, 1:16-17, 5:32; Luke 11:13

Poured out upon them: Acts 10:45

Endued with power: Luke 24:47-49

Promise of the Father: Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4, 2:39; John 15:26

Gift of the Holy Spirit (God): Acts 8:20; Acts 10:45, 11:17; Hebrews 6:4

Romans 10:17 “Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.”

Second: Eagerly desire the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 14:1 Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts…

Third: Ask for the infilling of the Holy Spirit!

Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.”

Fourth: Obey the calling to be filled with the Holy Spirit!

Luke 11:28: “Blessed are those who hear the word of God and continually observe it.”

1 John 2:5-6: “But if anyone obeys His word, God’s love is truly made complete in Him.”

1 John 5:3: “This is love for God: to obey His commands.”

Hebrews 3:15-17 “Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts…”

And again! Romans 10:17 “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.”

FifthMake your choice! Go to the edge of what you know! And then jump off your podium into the River of God!

Now hear these words and consider the fruit of being filled with the Holy Spirit! Be blessed!

Ezekiel 47:1-12 Then he brought me back to the door of the temple, and behold, water was issuing from below the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was flowing down from below the south end of the threshold of the temple, south of the altar. Then he brought me out by way of the north gate and led me around on the outside to the outer gate that faces toward the east; and behold, the water was trickling out on the south side.

Going on eastward with a measuring line in his hand, the man measured a thousand cubits, and then led me through the water, and it was ankle-deep. Again he measured a thousand, and led me through the water, and it was knee-deep. Again he measured a thousand, and led me through the water, and it was waist-deep. Again he measured a thousand, and it was a river that I could not pass through, for the water had risen. It was deep enough to swim in, a river that could not be passed through. And he said to me, “Son of man, have you seen this?”

Then he led me back to the bank of the river.  As I went back, I saw on the bank of the river very many trees on the one side and on the other. And he said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, and enters the sea; when the water flows into the sea, the water will become fresh. And wherever the river goes, every living creature that swarms will live, and there will be very many fish. For this water goes there, that the waters of the sea may become fresh; so everything will live where the river goes. Fishermen will stand beside the sea. From Engedi to Eneglaim it will be a place for the spreading of nets. Its fish will be of very many kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea. But its swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they are to be left for salt. And on the banks, on both sides of the river, there will grow all kinds of trees for food. Their leaves will not wither, nor their fruit fail, but they will bear fresh fruit every month, because the water for them flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for healing.”
