Reformation of Balance

I have heard many people speak on the idea that God is changing the Church out of the old into the new. Many people call it “Reformation.”

However, I would be careful to try to define what is happening to the Church with a coined phrase. Reformation? Reformation, from what? Reformation, into what? For, how quickly it shall be that Reformation will become simply another denomination of Christianity, simply another religion based only upon the past.

What God is bringing into the Church today are His blessings, His unlimited blessings! His blessings are new every morning. His grace is new every day. His mercy is fresh every morning. And these are just the beginnings of the glory of God manifesting on earth as it is in heaven in this hour!

Does anyone really believe that God stopped doing new things at the point at which the Bible was complete 2000 years ago? REALLY???

But if we are to believe many of today’s theologians that say that there is no longer the earthly manifestation of the Holy Spirit, who say that the manifestation of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost was only for the purpose of establishing the Church and the writing to the Bible, who say that there is no longer any manifestation of the Holy Spirit in this way… then one can only agree that’s all we have left on earth is the ancient past events of the Bible.

If there is nothing left on earth of God but the Bible, then the Bible discredits itself by saying that God always does a new thing. For, if this were so, then the last time that God moved on earth in power would have been 2000 years ago! Such an argument fits perfectly into powerless man-made religious thinking.

God is always doing a new thing, and it is always supernaturally manifested. We just need eyes to see it. We are always coming out of something into something new. We are coming out of the law, out of titles and out of structure into something wonderfully new. And for all of these new things to be understood, requires the current and fresh revelation given by the Holy Spirit.

Anytime that we start to copy what we did in the past, this is the beginning of the end of revival, and it is the beginning of dead and lifeless religion.

Scriptures must never be denied. Absolutes must not change. But the old things are going away. The word of God speaks much about this truth. But, the word of God always points us forward. The word of God directs us to gain an understanding of those who have gone before us so that we can succeed in all that God has set before us! This is what the word of God has to say:

2 Cor 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Rev 21:5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”

Psalm 98:1 Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! For He has done marvelous things…

Isaiah 43:18-19 “Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

And there are no better words to describe this issue any better than in the book of Matthew:

Mathew 13:52 Then He said to them, “Therefore every scribe (teacher/preacher/wise man/leader) instructed concerning the Kingdom of Heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure things new and old.”

The religious church thinks only to bring out of its storehouse that which is old. Likewise, we find many involved in this new wave of the Holy Spirit who are focusing only on bringing out the new. But the point of truth in this matter is this: We bring out both the revealed Word of God, and the revelation power of the Holy Spirit, so that both the old and the new would be given place to manifest God’s pure truth into the world. This is God’s heart for his Church today, the Word and the Spirit! If either is missing, false religion abounds!

On the day of Pentecost, the power fell upon men women and children in the Upper Room. Immediately following, the apostle Peter went out and addressed the crowd with the Word of God! On the day of Pentecost, the apostle Peter and the recipients of the outpouring testified to this all important truth, that it is the Word, hand in hand with the power, that bring to pass the miraculous manifestations of God. It was the Word spoken of old which Peter outlined, plus the manifestation of Holy Spirit’s power releasing the new thing that resulted in a supernatural success.

We’ve got Word churches and power churches, but God wants Word PLUS power churches. The Word is wonderful, and the manifesting miracles of the Holy Spirit are wonderful. But how much more will it be when the Church manifests the Word of God coupled with the power of God into today’s world. This is how it shall be that 3000 souls shall be saved in one day and more!

This is the revival that continues. It shall happen in the Church that operates both in the Word of God and the power of God.

True revival brings constant fresh oil to those who need it. It is a place where people who come back again and again to receive fresh new oil again and again! It is a place where the seekers will receive something new every time. It is a place where people receive a revelation of the Father heart of God. Because it is true that no one that does not have the heart of the Father should be trusted with the power of God. The point of truth on this matter is revealed only to the humble of heart. Read all of Psalm 91. “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty…” This is a position of humility and it is absolutely necessary in order to gain God’s point of truth on any matter.

We must understand that all of God’s power is available to all Christians at all times. This is what omnipotence means! It means all-powerful at all the time! God’s power is infinite and it is available upon his release.

God is simply waiting on his church to grow up, to die to self, to give up the reins of control and to allow God to lead. So long as men must maintain control of the Church, God simply will not manifest his power within. God will never share his glory with another!

God is calling his Church into a revival mentality that includes the Word of God and the power of God, in order to reveal the Father Heart of God into this dying world. Ultimately revival is this, the manifest revelation of the Father Heart of God to such a point that one cannot help BUT be FOREVER changed! The world needs their Heavenly Father! The world needs revival! The world needs the Church walking in the Word and the power of God!

And so, as we consider the manifestation of Reformation in today’s church, let us forever remember the necessity to cling tightly to the written revealed Word of God and to seek the manifesting Presence of the Holy Spirit in every one of our meetings that we might move forward in the new revealed things of God for our todays and our tomorrows!
